The Arrival

Against my good judgement, I have decided to be a typical white girl and have a blog. Mainly because I'm going to be in Europe for the next five months and want you all to be super jealous of my life, but also because my mother will have my head if I'm not sharing pictures and stories and what not.

So, feel free to follow me throughout my journey of a lifetime, and I swear not to blog about the children I don't have or the new diet I'm trying out (I also swear to never post a Starbucks selfie).

SO the three things I've learned being in the UK for 24 hrs:
1- JET LAG IS A REAL THING

2- Vulnerability sets the best stage for human interaction (not in a brothel sort of way)

3- THE BRITISH BOYS DRESS TO 10'S (DROOOOOL)

So about #2- We are two twenty-something year old girls in England aimlessly wandering from Taxi cabs to buses to tubes with luggage the size of a small killer whale. We got lost, we ran in to people with our Shamu bags- we needed help constantly. Normally I find this embarrassing- I love knowing where I am going and being self-sufficient. But because of this, we become closed off to the humans around us. We fail to take part in one another in the moment because we're too busy thinking about where we will be next. For the most part, humans are good. And they like to help one another because it's just the human thing to do I guess. So when your guard is down, and you're in a place of needing help, people help you- and in ways far beyond pointing you out to the nearest train station. So I am grateful for being vulnerable, or (by definition) "open to censure or criticism", as people told us what not to do or to not put our bags there. I am grateful to all of the humans who helped me today throughout my distressed damsel travels- Tony, John, Ruth and any others that offered words of advice or just a smile.

The other two will be discussed often and in depth throughout the remainder of the semester. But on a side note- boys, please google "street style in London" on a daily basis in regards to your style. You will get dates and women will flock to you like geese.

Also, I'm staying in a cute town about an hour and a half outside of London, with some of Shupe's family. They are adorable and got us welcome gifts and live in an old mill with a completely round living room. This is one of those rare occasions in which the actuality is even better than your expectations.

Would you fancy a cup of tea?

The backyard view. I guess there's a ton of pheasants out there. I wish my dad were here so we could slay some birds.
stay golden.

  2. Try to meet Jack and Finn Harries while you are there. I want to adopt them both and give each of them his own puppy.
